Animal Emergency Center Of The Quad Cities

I think it’s pretty unfair that so many of the negative reviews are about not being able to get in or having to wait. An emergency vet can only safely treat a certain number of patients at a time, and just like a human ER, they have to triage based on severity. It is an emergency hospital after all, not simply an overnight veterinary clinic. My experience here was very positive. My two dogs got into a pretty bad fight and both had bite wounds. I brought in the one with the more concerning injuries because he was shaking, and the staff thoroughly checked all of his wounds, cleaned and treated them, and reassured me that there were no signs of internal bleeding or deeper injuries. They also gave me advice on how to care for my other dog at home since his injuries were much less severe and I wasn’t able to bring both of them in. I left with the medication we needed, clear instructions, and most importantly, peace of mind. The price was also very reasonable. I recently moved here from Chicago, and I honestly would have expected a visit like this to cost double, if not triple, what I paid. The staff genuinely seemed to care about the animals they were treating. Working overnight in emergency veterinary medicine is not easy, and I really appreciate the people who dedicate their nights to making sure our pets can get care when something goes wrong. I’m very grateful for how they treated my dog and for the help they gave me.

By far one of the worst vets I've been to in a long time. They're an "emergency" vet yet they're somehow full and can't take any animals until 10 pm? Weird how that works. The bigger lady with dark hair at the front desk was also rude. I don't care how stressed out you are...you work in customer service so do your job.

This is still very painful to me and I want to talk about the good and the very bad of my experience with this place. I've had Clay for about 14 yrs when my ex and I rescued him from the shelter. 2 yrs ago our relationship ended and my ex had clay. The last 6 months Clay stayed with me and my ex took him when she could and last weekend was one of those weekends. Sunday she called me and told me Clay was not acting right and had a seizure. She told me she called you guys and Amy told her that this wasn't a emergency and kept putting my ex on hold. When she picked back up she said oh your still here and said nothing we can do and said maybe Des Moines or Peoria can help.... My ex brought Clay anyways and thank god she did! Clay was seen by a tech named Kara and by Dr. Benge which is why this isnt a 1 star review. When I arrived I went into room one and met with Kara who explained what was going on and told us Dr. Benge would be in soon. Kara brought Clay to us and I got to see how bad his condition was. Dr. Benge came in and explained how Clay had low blood sugar and how they got him on a i.v. and got his sugar up to 150ish and that his condition didn't get any better which made him worry that it was probably a tumor or something serious and thought that with Clays age it might be best to put him down. They gave us time with Clay to consider our options and while Clay was with us he started to have another seizure. It mad me cry and I hit the button and let Kara know we decided to put Clay to sleep... They brought us in a more private area and came in with a paper and prices. With giving him the i.v. and care that was already included it was like $300 to take him home to lay him to rest ourselves or $450 to cremate him or $490 and that came with keep sakes and what not. I spoke with Kara anf told her that we only had about $250 today but if they would be willing to wait until payday I have no issue paying the $490 or more! She said she would go talk to Dr. Benge. When Kara came back she explained that they have a Lilly found and would use that to make sure that we get 2 paw prints, 2 clips of hair and 2 sets of ashes. You dont know how great that felt to hear. Over all Dr. Benge was a 10 out of 10 explaining what was wrong with Clay and his last moments would be. Kara also got a 10 out or 10 with explaining and understanding how sad we were. When I get up front to pay every last dollar I had. Amy made me fell less of a person because I had to pay with a few cards and had to use my phone to get on a credit card app to select over limit protection because as Kara said pay what you could didn't work with amy. She said you told dr that you would pay $250 and I technically only had $240 so it took me a few moments to get on my credit card app to make sure I was aloud to go $10 over so that we had ever bit of the $250. I left before my ex because I couldn't handle my emotions with just losing what I considered my son and how Amy made me feel and the way she thought it was OK to talk to someone who just lost his son slash best friend. The next day when my ex called back to ask about doing another paw print she got to speak with Amy again who informed her that Clay was already cremated and that Kara didn't check anything about make paw prints or doing everything that was promised to us. That we could come in 2 weeks to just pick up so ashes! This is VERY disappointing and I'm so upset about this. I never asked for anything to be done for free. I had no problem paying everything I owed and just asked for time. Now I wont get lasting memories of Clay because I dont live with my ex and told her she can have Clays ashes because he was her everything too. Amy gets a 0 out of 10 if negative is a option mark her as a negative 10. She had no empathy or compassion what so ever. She was beyond rude and I feel like she is the reason that I wont have any keep sakes of Clay. I definitely would of paid extra and didnt ask for the Lilly found. It was offered to us and I was so thankful until we were leaving and had Amy there...

Yesterday was my first time being here. My cat wasn't doing so well. She wasn't eating for days and she had a form of kidney disease plus a mass on her bladder, and she wasn't able to hold herself anymore. So I had to make the toughest decision in the world and get her euthanized. The staff was so kind and the doctor was as well, most of the bad reviews on here are wrong, they showed a lot of care and compassion during the whole process, giving us as much time with our Rosie as we needed. I loved how they explained everything to us, and took it as slow as we wanted/needed. Thank you guys for being so amazing.
